Cynde Wilson is a Western Artist based in beautiful Pinedale Wyoming where she grew up on the family ranch and started painting under the tutelage of her Grandmother at a very early age. She quit painting for years while working and raising her family and has gotten back at the easel the past six years under the mentorship of reknowned Scottsdale artist Matt Smith with the Tucson Art Academy Online. She has won many awards and her work has recently been showcased in exhibitions in Western Wyoming. She is a member of the Sublette County mixed media group and is joining the Sublette County Artists Guild. Her paintings almost always reflect her rural upbringing in Wyoming, whether landscapes, wildlife or western life. Her work is still very reasonably priced and therefore accessible to a wide range of audiences but is quickly becoming more and more sought out.

I grew up on the cattle ranch homesteaded by my family in Southwest Wyoming on the Cottonwood creeks between Pinedale and Big Piney, WY. The love of ranch life, animals, wildlife and the great outdoors started before I started grade school! I began painting with my artist Grandma at about age 8 or 9. I had about a 20 year hiatus during my school years and started painting again as a new mother. My career, married life and raising my daughter got in the way of my painting for about 40 years but I’m back at it with a vengeance now. I started taking online mentoring through the Tucson Art Academy during the Covid pandemic and have continued with Matt Smith, a renowned Scottsdale artist as my mentor/coach.

Other than my Grandmother’s guiding hand and a year of Art at the University of Wyoming I was primarily self-taught until I discovered Tucson Art Academy Online during Covid. I believe the improvement in my work has been exponential as evidenced by growing sales and awards. I was honored Best of Show at the Lyn Thomas Memorial Art show in 2023 and at the WY Artists convention 2024. I have been awarded Outstanding Senior Artist and Overall Outstanding artist at our County fair over the past five years. I participate in the quick draws at the annual Wy Artists convention where my painting have sold quite well and help support the Association. I’m loving being able to be a full time artist now that my almost full retirement allows.
